Job Requirements: Position Description:
The Associate Editor will work closely with the Executive Director on international versions and adaptations, from signing through production. The Associate Editor will also liaise with editorial, production, marketing and sales colleagues in the US and overseas as needed to help ensure accurate information transfer regarding our growing list of titles. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, creative problem solver with an interest in higher education outside the US and Canada.
Major Responsibilities:
Develop, test, and implement plans for international adaptations of key titles in collaboration with key stakeholders
Gather and maintain accurate market and product information
Serve as point-person for international marketing queries
Some international travel and attendance at domestic academic conferences required
Required Skills / Knowledge:
Must be familiar with the editorial process
Must be able to set and maintain schedules
Must be able to collect and analyze data
Must be very self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented
Must understand the importance of collaboration, a desire to solve problems, and a demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues, authors, and academics
Must possess strong writing and communication skills
Must be interested in international higher education and how it is similar to and different from US/Canadian higher education
Foreign travel and/or language proficiency a plus
Experience Needed:
2-3 years editorial experience, preferably in higher education

We are looking for someone with experience working with both literary fiction and nonfiction titles in the traditional media space as well as digital. Responsibilities:
Under minimal supervision, publicize select books and authors, ranging from literary fiction to nonfiction
Schedule interviews with broadcast, print and online media
Cultivate strong relationships with online media and blogger community
Prepare/strategize with authors on interviews, tours, media contacts
Schedule multi-city author tours with bookstore appearances and local media
Actively develop and maintain media contacts, including national, regional, local and online
Write press releases and pitch letters, and other promotional materials relating to a books campaign
Work closely with marketing and editorial; attends regular meetings with each group to strategize and position each title.
Requirements:
Significant prior work experience in publicity, booking top-line media and author tours
A proven ability to devise creative, innovative and effective campaigns
Experience working in the digital media space, including bloggers and social media outreach
Extensive knowledge of the media and a familiarity with book reviewers, magazine editors, and bloggers
Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment
A college degree (BA or equivalent) and minimum 5-6 years prior experience (continua)

The Department of Parliamentary Services is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Publishing and Communications IT (CIT) support person to join the Hansard team.
Reporting directly to the Manager of Hansard, this position supports the provision of an accurate and prompt report of the proceedings of the Victorian Parliament, parliamentary committees and other forums, by supporting and maintaining the group’s communications and information technology systems and undertaking publishing tasks.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- A high degree of computer skills and experience in operating specialised software including program development and programming languages such as VB, HTML, SQL etc.
- Experience in publishing using Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat within a customised production environment
- Experience in providing technical assistance and in developing and implementing training programs
- Ability to administer digital audio recording systems
- Experience in administrative duties, including staff rostering and fielding inquiries
- Experience in researching, evaluating and implementing new technology
Salary: Grade 4.1 $66,235 per annum plus superannuation
Term of appointment: Ongoing, full-time
